as the lead exhibition designer, cia mooney helped bring this new frank gehry designed museum to life. the exhibits were one of the earliest uses of Interactive media and broke new ground in visitor engagement with data, video and satellite telecommunications.
model-making the exhibition took shape in drawings and scale models to illustrate the visitor journey and storyline.
big bang a large multimedia theater introduced visitors to the beginnings of the universe. on the floor below, images from the hubbell telescope and deep space exploration were backlit inside a modular graphics wall.
to create the darkness required, a 3-story space frame was installed to enclose the theater spaces.
