park-park is a modular gathering spot for indoor or outdoor applications. to create a sense of place, the system incorporates seating, tablets (tables), and lighting. the system is intended to be built on-site (with the lighting package, solar options, and controllers to be ordered) using local supplies, materials, enigineering/permit sign-off, and labor.
park-park and
a sense of place
thinking about the future workplace
park-park began as a provocation for an immersive ar/mixed reality space within the future workplace. luminous walls enable a choice of “natural” environments. the intimate setting questions whether the experience within an artificial nature would replenish our senses and support contemplative, friendly conversations. a holographic screen floats in the dimly lit space providing access to work files, as needed. a small mechanical bird sits atop the canopy to provide the occasional chirp.
the system parts
a system of bench seats, tablets, and overhead lighting provide a collaborative hub. the vertical column carries the electrical raceway and controls for lighting and charging ports, as well as structural support for mounting the pivoting tablets. for outdoor applications, a solar panel may be added.
