toro

toro is a study in the brutalist microarchitecture of a chair. monolithic in character, the back structure and its cantilevered arms connect to the seat block and its two legs.

toro was molded in quickcrete 5000. pink foam inserts were used to limit the weight of the concrete. full-size study models were first constructed in foamcore (yellow/white and black). the speculative project continues cia’s exploration at the intersection of art, furniture, and architecture.
